After exploring the visitor center, enjoy biking through the plains at the base of the volcano on single tracks over a mix of ash and páramo. We’ll take you to a freshwater spring where you can enjoy some of the freshest, most delicious water you’ve ever drank! Experience breathtaking views and the chance to spot condors. The ride ends at Lake Limpiopungo, followed by a relaxing drive to Riobamba for the night.

  • Maximum altitude: 4,800 m
    Minimum altitude: 2,800 m
    Cycling distance: 37 km

    Breakfast

After breakfast, we begin with a one-hour transfer to the high Andes for an unforgettable day of riding.

First Ride: From the mountain refuge, we descend from 4,800 meters down toward the base. The first section takes us along rocky trails through a dramatic lunar-like landscape, with the most imposing volcano overlooking Quito — Volcán Cotopaxi — as our breathtaking backdrop.

We then transfer 25 minutes to the southern face of the volcano for the second ride: a spectacular 30 km downhill through a canyon, following the river along a quiet secondary paved road. Long, flowing descents and ever-changing scenery make this stretch pure cycling pleasure. Here we enjoy a delicious box lunch.

After the ride, we head to Ambato for an (optional not included) traditional Ecuadorian lunch before continuing to our hotel in Baños de Agua Santa, the adventure capital of Ecuador.

Afternoon and evening at leisure to explore, relax, or enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this lively mountain town.

    Overnight in Baños.

  • Day 3: Baños Cloud Forest and to Misahualli in the Amazon

    Maximum altitude: 1,800 m
    Minimum altitude: 300 m
    Cycling distance: 25 km

    Breakfast

We begin the tour directly from our hotel in Baños de Agua Santa, setting off by bike for a relaxed city tour. As we ride through the lively streets, we visit the main church, the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Agua Santa, where you’ll learn why so many Ecuadorians are devoted to the “Virgin of Baños.” Pilgrims travel from all over the country to ask for miracles and give thanks for blessings received.

We continue to the colorful central market to experience local daily life and sample a typical regional drink.

From town, we begin a 20 km downhill ride to the spectacular Pailón del Diablo, one of the most iconic waterfalls in the country. Surrounded by lush vegetation and the roar of cascading water, it’s an unforgettable natural highlight.

After a traditional lunch, we transfer approximately two hours toward the Amazon basin, where the landscape gradually transforms and the local wildlife welcomes us to the jungle.

Upon arrival in Misahuallí, we hop back on our bikes for a final 13 km ride along a scenic road leading to our lodge, deep in the rainforest.

Tonight we stay at Suchipakari Lodge, surrounded by nature. Enjoy the swimming pool and the sounds of the jungle as the perfect end to an adventurous day.

    Overnight at the Jungle lodge.

  • Maximum altitude: 350 m
    Minimum altitude: 280 m
    Cycling distance: 30 km

    Breakfast

After breakfast, we set off by canoe, navigating along the river toward a small island where a local Indigenous community welcomes us. Here, we take part in the preparation of traditional artisanal chocolate — from bean to bar — and, of course, enjoy tasting the rich flavors of freshly made cacao in the heart of the Amazon.

Our boat then continues downstream, dropping us at a small hidden port deep in the jungle. On the riverbank, we savor a typical Ecuadorian lunch (included), surrounded by the sounds of nature.

In the afternoon, we begin a 30 km bike ride along a mix of paved and dirt roads, cycling through lush rainforest landscapes back to our lodge for our second night in the Amazon.

The rest of the day is at leisure. You may choose to explore the jungle on foot or relax at the spa (optional massages available).

Overnight at the same Jungle Lodge.

  • Maximum altitude: 2,500 m
    Minimum altitude: 300 m
    Cycling distance: 30 km

    Breakfast

After breakfast, we begin a scenic two-hour transfer toward Baeza, where we stop to enjoy a freshly made local tortilla — a simple but delicious Andean specialty.

We then continue 40 minutes to Termas de Papallacta (entrance optional), the most renowned thermal complex in Ecuador. Here, you can relax and take advantage of the therapeutic and rejuvenating properties of the volcanic hot springs, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.

A typical Ecuadorian lunch is included (optional or a box lunch) before we transfer one hour to Cumbayá for our final ride.

At this point you will not be in the car any longer. Today’s 30 km cycling route follows a beautifully restored ecological trail built along a former railway line, now transformed into a scenic bike path. The ride offers classic Andean landscapes, tunnels carved through the mountains, panoramic viewpoints, and a pleasant temperate climate — a smooth and enjoyable way to close the journey. We cycle to the hotel and enter through their back door (we are assuming you will be staying at this hotel booked through us, if you are staying in Quito we will take you to you hotel from here).

This hotel is near the airport for our final night.
